Mahindra Monsoon Challenge to Flag Of On 20th July
Mahindra Adventure in association with Apollo Tyres has kick started the 2012 Monsoon Challenge in Bangalore. The rally has been pegged as the biggest TSD (Time, Speed, Distance ) rally event in the country. The Mahindra Monsoon Challenge is open to all Mahindra cars and will be officially flagged of in Bangalore on 19th July.
The actual Mahindra Monsoon Challenge will begin on 20th and the cars will head to Mangalore through Coorg. The first day of the rally will cover a distance of 440 kilometres. The second day of the rally will have drivers competing for top spots from Mangalore to Shimoga. The third day will see the Mahindra Monsoon Challenge heading to Goa from Shimoga through Karwar.

The Mahindra Monsoon Challenge has been billed as the most attractive motor sport events too as it has a total price money of Rs.12 lakhs, the highest amounts offered in motor sports events in India. Although the Rally will most of the roads in the rout will be tarmac, the organizers said there will opportunities to go off-roading as the monsoons would have washed away sections of the road in the route.
The federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India has approved the Mahindra Monsoon Challenge. Mr Vivek Nayar, the senior vice president, Marketing, Automotive division of Mahindra and Mahindra said: " Mahindra, being the leader of the SUV segment in India felt rallying is part of its DNS and hence we are organization rallies and adventure motorsports under the Mahindra Adventure umbrella. This is the second edition of the Monsoon Challenge. The previous rally was held from Nashik to Goa and we have now moved it to the south where there is a huge following to the time, speed, distance rallying."
Apollo Tyres which is the co-sponsor of the event was represented by Satish Sharma, Chief, India operations. He spoke about Apollo's long standing association with Mahindra and said the Monsoon Challenge provided Apollo an opportunity to interact with end users.
The Mahindra Monsoon Challenge route is chalked out by the Mahindra Adventure team in association with IMSC (Indian Motor Sport Club of India), while the ‘With You Hamesha' service team will ensure that participants can enjoy the rally unhindered.
