Mahindra's Mini Xylo Set For September Launch

There have been several sightings of the compact SUV from Mahindra but it was always decked up with camouflage coverings. The mini Xylo has been photographed camouflage recently and the results are quite impressive. The Mini Xylo is as the name suggests a smaller version of the Xylo. Essentially a five seater the mini Xylo carries forward almost all design features of the recently launched 2012 Xylo.
The headlamps, grille and bonnet are very much similar to the Xylo. The allow wheels look similar but are slightly smaller as the miniXylo is evidently a smaller car. The size of the front wheel arch has been reduced to suite the mini Xylo's small stature.
It is the rear design of the mini Xylo that has caught our eye. The rear wheel arch merges with the rear door. The body panels and rear bumper are also smaller when compared to the 2012 Xylo. The most noticeable aspect of the mini Xylo's rear is about the tail lamps that appear to be wrapped to the sides giving a sporty look. The spare wheel is fitted to the rear door and is encased in plastic wheel cover.
Reports say the mini Xylo will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine instead of the 2.2-litre m-Hawk engine that is currently used in the Xylo and Scorpio. The mini Xylo is smaller and lighter than its bigger cousin and hence would not need a large engine. Further having a smaller engine will also mean the mini Xylo's fuel consumption will be a lot lesser.
Mahindra is expected to announce the mini Xylo's price in India during the launch. Since the mini Xylo is a compact SUV, it will not attract high excise tax. Some say the mini Xylo's starting price could be close to Rs.5 lakhs.
