Honda To Launch Diesel Cars in India

Honda Motor Company has thrown some light on their much anticipated diesel engines. The diesel engines from Honda will see light first on its entry-level sedan based Brio. The company states by early 2014 Indian will have Honda diesel cars. What are your thoughts?

The Sedan based diesel Brio will be slated against Swift Dzire, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. Honda is hoping with the introduction of the sedan Brio it will help the company to boost sales in India.

Honda's global CEO HMC Takanobu Ito commented on this development. He said, "In India, an all-new diesel engine will be adopted sequentially to new models starting in FY2014. In addition to the high fuel efficiency, the cost competitiveness of the all-new diesel engine will be enhanced through local sourcing and local production to make new diesel models more affordable for customers."

So all the speculation surrounding diesel variants of City, Jazz and Brio hatchback is clear. The new line of diesel cars are expected to come by end of next fiscal year. Honda has also confirmed that it would also introduce an all new Jazz (Fit) series by 2013.
