Fiat CEO Confirms Jeep's India Launch
Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, on the sidelines of the ongoing Paris Motor Show, has confirmed the company will be launching the Jeep brand in India. Jeep, the American car brand owned by Chrysler is now under Fiat's control following Fiat's takeover of Chrysler.
Fiat India had previously hinted the arrival of Chrysler brands in India by adding the Chrysler logo in its press material. Jeep is a manufacturer of SUVs such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. Fiat India has been struggling in India and is hopeful the arrival of the Jeep brand could provide it a much needed boost.

Jeep's SUVs are expected to be priced in the range of Rs.10 lakhs and Rs.20 lakhs making them quite affordable when compared to other premium SUVs. This will mean Jeep will have premium SUVs like Toyota Fortuner and the Chevrolet Captiva. We can even say Jeep will be competing against Indian made SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV 500 and the soon to be launched new Tata Safari Storme.
Fiat India is setting up its own dealer network across the country. The arrival of Jeep in India will mean there will be a sense of de ja vu when one walks in to a Fiat showroom. While previously you would see Tata cars along with Fiat cars in a showroom, you might see Fiats and Jeeps together.
Some Jeep models that can be launched in India might include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot.
