Fiat Plans Crossover Based On Iconic 500 By 2013
With an array of crossovers and mini SUVs set to debut the Indian market, Italian carmaker Fiat is also planning to have its share in the market. Fiat is reportedlt planning to debut the 500 X, a crossover based on the design concept of the iconic 500 small car in 2013.
The 500 X will take straight on with the likes of Ford EcoSport which is set be launched this year. The crossover will be based on the Punto hatchback.
Reports say that the 500 X will be 4.2 meters long and wider than the Punto hatchback. The crossover is expected to be powered by a 1.3 liter multijet diesel, meanwhile, 900cc Multiair, 1.4 liter turbo petrol motors should be the petrol engines on offer.
However, there is no idea when the carmaker will launch the 500 X in India. India is price conscious market and if the crossover is well priced, the 500 X looks good with its funky design.
