Audi Emerges Winner Defeating BMW In April

The company said that Audi cars and sport-utility vehicles sales increased 14.4 per cent to 1,25,200 in the month of April. However, BMW products' sales rose only about half of Audi at 7.4 per cent selling 121,476 cars.
Audi sales had surpassed BMW last in January 2011. The company, which is looking to be the world luxury car leader, had surpassed another premium carmaker Mercedes Benz last year. The carmaker also targets to sell 2 million units by 2020.
An automobile analyst spoke on Audi's victory: "Audi will remain the No. 1 challenger to BMW over the next four to five years. They're firmly rooted in lucrative markets and benefit greatly from VW resources.”
Meanwhile, Audi's growth in the Indian luxury car market has been at steady pace. The carmaker, which had started its operations only in 2007, had overtaken Mercedes Benz which has been there in the country for more than 15 years. However, Audi is at 2nd position in the country with BMW dominating the market.
