Apple Patents Steering Wheel Remote Control System

Apple Steering Remote
Patently Apple Reports, a website that tracks Apple patents had reported that Apple had patented a steering wheel remote control for controlling your iPhone, iPad or iPod. The recently granted patent filing is for a device that can be attached to the steering wheel to control devices as reported by Patently Apple Reports.

The click wheel would be a remote for your iDevices which would be connected through Bluetooth or another pairing technology. The main advantage of the new steering wheel control would be that you won't have to take your eyes off the road to use it.

There are many other infotainment systems for cars that interface directly with your iDevices, but you will have to look at the touch screen to change tracks or yell at the system if it is a voice control device. Though there are many cars with steering wheel mounted audio controls, you won't be able to install a new system in a car that lacks this built in feature.

The new Apple Remote Wheel Control System is very interesting considering that it could be fitted to old cars as well. However, we'll have to wait and see if the system would become a huge success like other Apple devices as most of the new cars come with in-built infotainment systems.
