Apollo Tyres Kochi Unit Catches Fire

Apollo Tyres
Fire in the hole! at the Apollo Tyres Kalamassery unit. Production at this unit, has temporarily been stopped as a fire broke out at its Banbury unit on Sunday night. The Branbury unit stocks various raw materials mixed together, for tyre manufacturer.

The fire broke out at around 10.30 PM on Sunday and the rescue team managed to bring the fire under control by 2 AM. The company has released a statement and has announced that there has been no causalities.

Currently, the unit is making the necessary arrangements to get the production back to normal. For the next few days, the unit would be making alternate arrangements for sourcing the mixed compound for tyre manufacturing. The Kalamassery unit manufacturers 100 tonnes per day for agricultural and industrial tyres, truck and bus tyres.

Kerala currently has two Apollo units, one being the fire affected Kalamassery unit and the other at Perambra in Thrissur. The unit in Kalamassery, is the proposed export unit in the next two years, which would cater to Industrial tyres for exporting to Europe, South America and North America.

For now, this fire has burnt the Banbury unit all clean. Will this have any effect on the tyre manufacturer who believes, the road is a friend.
