Audi To Launch Armored A8 L Security Sedan
Armored cars are specifically designed to protect their occupants. Almost all the buyers of armored cars are VIP involved in politics, business or other high profile professions. BMW and Mercedes-Benz have been offering Indian VIPs their armored bullet proof cars since some years soon after the venerable HM Ambassador ceased to be the official cars of the Indian heads of state.
But is is now Audi's turn to join the list of luxury carmakers offering armored bullet proof cars in India. The first car to be marketed in this segment will be the Audi A8 L Security. As the name suggests it has been designed to offer optimum security and comfort to its occupants. Expected to be priced around Rs. 5 Crores, the Audi A8 L Security will be available for sale in 2012 itself.
Here are some of the interesting features of the A* L That VIPS among us will appreciate. It can withstand bullet attacks even from AK 47 machine guns. Further more it can also protect its occupants from hand grenades too. Reports say Audi has already received 20 inquiries from Indian Government functionaries and other interested parties
The Audi armored car is not easily available though. Since these cars are made to order, buyers need to wait for at least four to six months to lay their hands on the car. An Audi executive who wished to be unnamed has said the German carmaker was looking at the government, army, police, heads of business groups as potential clients.
Audi is very selective about who it will sell the A8 L Security to. Iot is now evaluating the inquiries it has received. Audi's security division in Germany will be handling the clients directly from the initial point of contact to the final sale.
