Mahindra Set To Launch XUV500 In Australia, Chile

The XUV500 which was rolled out in September 2011 was introduced to the South African market a day after its launch. Mahindra officials had then spoken about rapid plans to launch the SUV in other markets without knowing that the XUV500 would attract customers to such a level.
The bookings were so much that Mahindra had to ramp up production and deliver its cars to its customers in the domestic market. Even lucky draws were conducted among customers to deliver the orders in the first batches. The company currently has to deliver 7,500 XUVs to customers who were selected through the lottery.
Meanwhile, the XUV500s which are being shipped to other markets have been designed to comply with respective market conditions emission norms. The company will also raise the production of the SUV to 5,000 units from 3,000 now.
The XUV500 had single-handedly outsold all D-segment sedans in March recording a sales figure of 3196 units. A major reason behind the huge success of the XUV is its highly competitive pricing starting at Rs 11.38 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
