Toyota Etios Is Now A Popular Taxi

The Indian taxi segment which was once considered the bastion of Tata Motors with the Sumo and the Indica being the major players is now seeing the arrival of new models. Taxi operators are now diversifying their fleets considering the requirements of clients. The latest vehicle to become popular in this segment is the Toyota Etios sedan.

The Toyota Etios was launched by the Japanese carmaker last year. It is its entry level sedan and was aimed squarely at the family car buyer. But Toyota appears to have had a change of heart after it began marketing the Etios also as a luxury taxi.

Taxi operators in major metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Nagpur are now buying the Etios. The Toyota Etios is an affordable sedan and yet it offers several comfortable features. It is spacious and has the Toyota badge of quality. Clients will like the fact that they are riding a Toyota and the taxi operator will be happy due to Toyota's high build quality and reliability.

Toyota appears to be following Mahindra who sold huge numbers of the then Logan and the current Verito to fleet operators such as Meru. Toyota is now selling its Etios to Meru as well as other fleet operators.
