Porsche had earlier said it would recall the Cayenne to replace a faulty part in the headlight locking mechanism. In its statement to the media, Porsche said: “In-house quality investigations revealed that in rare cases an incorrectly locked head-light module can become detached.”

The process of repairing the faulty headlight unit will take about 45 minutes. Owners can drive to their closest Porsche service centre and have it rectified and drive back home within an hour. Porsche is conducting these repairs free of cost.

The cayenne is Porsche's highest selling model in India too. Although Porsche is known as a sports car maker , the cayenne has been a run away success since its launch. Based on the same plat form as the Volkswagen Touareg and the Audi Q7, the Cayenne offers a more sporty performance. It is available in four variants – Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne S Hybrid and the Cayenne Turbo.
