Hyundai i20 Based Sedan To Replace Accent Soon

Hyundai Sedan
South Korean carmaker Hyundai is expected to bring the facelifted 2012 fluidic i20 soon to the market, but the news here is that the hatchback's platform may also be a base for an entry level sedan. Hyundai is reportedly planning to build an entry level sedan based on the i20's that will replace the aging Accent sedan.

The carmaker intends to place the entry level sedan below the best selling fluidic Verna which will compete with the Toyota Etios and Maruti Suzuki Dezire. Another reason for replacing the Accent is the car is only available with a petrol engine that makes the selling of the car highly challenging considering present market conditions.

The car is expected to enter the market within the next couple of years with both petrol and diesel engines. The compact sedan could be measured under 4 meters in length so as to benefit from the excise duty concession that small car category has been given by the Indian Government.

Hyundai expects to regain the lost market share at the compact sedan market by launching the new car. More details of the car are yet to be disclosed by the South Korean carmaker.
