Australian Media Calls Ertiga Stretched Swift
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has had very positive responses from the Indian media and public since its launch. While Maruti Suzuki has said the Ertiga is a new car that will create a segment there are many who think The carmaker has just build a new car out of existing models.
It is a well known fact that the Ertiga is built on the same platform a the Swift and the Ritz. Australian journalist Malcolm Flynn has stated that the Ertiga is nothing but a stretched version of the Swift. He went on to add Maruti Suzuki has already built a sedan called the Swift DZire from the Swift's platform and the Ertiga is the MPV.

This is what Malcolm Flynn from the motor report dot com had to say about the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga “A new stretched people-moving version of Suzuki's Swift hatch has launched in the Indian market. Dubbed 'Ertiga', the new car is a long-wheelbase version of the Swift hatch we see in Australia, packing seating for seven within its modest footprint.”
The Ertiga is longer than the Swift by 415mm while its width remains the same at 4695mm. The narrow width will help keep the Ertiga's handling more like a car while still offering space like an MPV.
The Swift is one of the best selling models for Suzuki in Australia. The Ertiga could also be a nice buy for people who have large families and need an affordable car. Although Suzuki has design ed the Ertiga in Japan, it has stated the new MPV will be sold primarily in India and South East Asia. It has not confirmed if It will sell the Ertiga in any other region. Exports of the Ertiga have already started to Indonesia.
