Tata Motors Aiming At 5k Sumo Gold Sales Per Month

Tata Motors is planning to sell as many as 5,000 units of the Sumo gold per month. The new Sumo Gold is actually cheaper than its predecessor by Rs.40,000 and this will help the Indian carmaker achieve its sales target. The new version is powered by Tata's CR4 engine that offers better refinement, mileage and performance.
Tata Motors Utility Vehicles Product Group - Head Ashesh Dhar who spoke during the Chennai launch of the Tata Sumo Gold said: “We have cut the price by up to Rs 40,000. The vehicle's weight has been reduced, it has an improved CR4 engine delivering better mileage of 14.3 kmpl and pick up at 85 bhp. We have added new external and internal features in it.”
Tata Motors currently sells about 3,000 units of the Sumo Gold per month. The number was just above 1,000 units a few months ago. This remarkable increase in sales has made Tata Motors confident that the new Sumo Gold can further increase its sales. The market leader Bolero reportedly has a monthly sales figure of more than 6,000 units.
The Bharat Stage III version of Tata Sumo Gold is priced at Rs 5.47 lakh (exshowroom Chennai) and the top end variant at Rs 6.89 lakh (exshowroom Chennai). The BS IV model is priced at Rs 5.62 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) for the base variant while the top end model is Rs 7.03 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai).
