Volkswagen Unveils Low Cost Sedan Lavida In China

The Volkswagen Lavida is a A-segment sedan and is between 4 to 4.5 metres long. This makes it smaller than Volkswagen's cheapest sedan in India, the Vento. This can be considered as Volkswagen’s low cost sedan I the lines of the Toyota Etios or the Tata Manza.
The new Volkswagen Lavida now gets a redesigned fascia that looks similar to the VW Passat being sold in the US. The German carmaker has also added more safety features including ABS, ESP and front air bags.
Volkswagen's cheap sedan will be available with three engine options. The carmaker is yet to reveal what these engines will be. We expect a small turbocharged diesel engine along with a petrol engine found in the Volkswagen Up.
Volkswagen has had a firm hold on the Chinese car market thanks to models such as the Lavida. It is expecting a sizable increase in its market share in the world's largest car market in the coming years despite experts opining that car sales in China will slow down from 2012.
