Hyundai's Eon Bestseller To Be Exported From India

Hyundai-Eon
South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motors is planning to export its Eon small car from India by May 2012. Hyundai will export the Eon to emerging markets such as Africa and South East Asia.

Hyundai Motor India sales and marketing director Arvind Saxena was quoted as saying: "We have been selling about 11,000-12,000 Eon cars a month in India and are quite optimistic of the model doing well in export markets as well.” The carmaker had earlier exported cars from India to Europe with the Getz hatchback being the notable one among them.

By exporting the Eon to Africa and South East Asia markets, Hyundai expects to balance the decline in exports to the European market due to a slowdown there. The Eon, which is Hyundai's best selling car in India, will be quite a decent bet for the emerging markets with its quality levels and safety features.

The Eon is also Hyundai's entry-level car in India which comes at a starting price of Rs 2,7 lakhs. An LPG variant of the Eon is also available in India which makes for a good number of sales due to its low running costs.
