Renault Duster Bags 1,000 Bookings Before Launch

This incredible response to a car from a manufacturer that did not have such a splendid start in India with the Logan is nothing but surprising. Renault's existing models - Pulse, Koleos and Fluence have had just a tepid response from car buyers. Renault dealers opened the Duster's bookings in anticipation of the car's launch in July. They are charging between Rs.50,000 to Rs.1 lakh.
The Renault Duster will be the first compact SUV to be launched by a global carmaker in India ahead of the Ford EcoSport. The Renault Duster's price in India is expected to start from Rs.7 lakhs for the petrol variant and Rs.8 lakhs for the diesel variant. The fully loaded top end variant's price can go up to Rs.12 lakhs.
Renault India had earlier stated that the Duster will be a n SUV for all practical purposes and it will have all the features of an SUV. However the Duster's price will be similar to that of a sedan making it a very affordable option.
Renault India decided to advance the launch of the Duster to July from the previously expected launch in the festive season. The French carmaker is confident about the Duster setting a new bench mark for compact SUVs and is expecting this new car to revive its brand image in India.
Renault India's spokesperson Rajiv Mitra has been quoted to have said the Duster will be aggressively priced, hinting at a price tag close to that of the Mahindra Scorpio. Some of the features that the top end Renault Duster will have are dual airbags, leather upholstery, 16-inch alloy wheels and ABS with brake assist.
