Petrol Car Prices Dip Heavily In Used Car Market

On the other hand, buyers who are looking for a petrol second hand car could get a smart deal at the moment. For instance, in cities such as Mumbai and Delhi, a 5 year old Honda Civic which was sold at Rs 5-6 lakh is now available at a price tag of Rs 4 lakhs.
Some of the other petrol-powered sedans which are being sold at low prices are the Toyota Corolla Altis, Fiat Linea, Maruti Suzuki SX4, Ford Fiesta and Chevrolet Aveo. The main reason for the heavy dip in prices of these cars is their low fuel efficiency making running costs higher. Premuim petrol SUVs have also been badly hit in the second-hand market with a fall of up to 40 per cent in price, the Honda CR-V which was being sold at a regular price of 7 lakh is now available at 5 lakhs.
Diesel cars are in such a demand that out 5 cars sold in the market, 4 are diesel powered. Carmakers also have been hard pressed to increase production of their diesel cars to keep up up with the market demand. Yesterday, it was reported that Maruti Suzuki India is soon to decide on the possibilities of setting up a diesel engine unit in its facility in Gurgaon.
