Nissan's Low Cost Brand Datsun In India By 2014

Nissan aims to increase sales by bringing Datsun low cost cars to developing markets such as Russia, India and Indonesia. The Datsun brand was officially discontinued by Nissan in 1981, but the car is still seen at parts of United States, Middle East and Asia.
"It's a green car, affordable car, small displacement, high local content, it's going to be a generous car," Ghosn said on Datsun.. With the entry of Datsun low cost car to India, it will be mainly competing with the small cars of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors.
Currently, Micra is the only small car Nissan sells in India with a price tag that starts from Rs. 4,21,765. Now, it will be really interesting to watch the competition at the small car segment with the arrival of Datsun. Nissan may build its Datsun cars in India with its Indian partner, commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland.
