Five Door Swift Sport Not Coming To India

Swift Sport
The Swift has been appreciated in the international market not only for its looks, practicality and mileage but also for its sporty handling. To make the Swift even more sporty, Suzuki launched the three door version of the Swift called the Swift Sport. The Swift Sport was also unveiled months after the next generation Swift was launched.

The European Swift Sport is a three door model. Suzuki has now started exporting the Swift Sport to Australia. But this one is a more practical five door version. The five door Swift sport is being advertised in Australia as being more fuel efficient, more powerful, along with being a better handling car.

The five door Swift sport is powered by a 1.6-litre engine that will be available with either a six speed manual or a seven speed CT gearbox. The engine can generate 135bhp and 160Nm of torque. Such power can push the Swift Sport to 100kmph from rest within 8.1 seconds.

Suzuki has also added some comfort features such as key less entry and start, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, six-speaker audio system with USB connectivity and climate control air conditioning. It has also reduced the weight of the car by 30kg to improve the performance.

High performance will mean the need of high degree of safety equipment. Suzuki has added powerful brakes, ABS, EBD and ESP as standard. The suspension has been tuned to improve handling.

The five door Swift Sport is priced at $23,990 (Rs.12.6 Lakhs) with the manual and $25,990 (Rs.13.6 lakhs) with the CVT. The price might be a disappointment for Indian buyers. And may be this is the reason why Maruti Suzuki has not launched this impressive and powerful hatchback in India. But considering its performance, there will be people among us who are ready to buy the Swift Sport.
