Fiat Set To Launch Jeep Alfa Romeo And Jeep

According to reports, Fiat will first launch its premium brands Alfa Romeo and Maserati in India. The Italian carmaker has already officially launched the Ferrari sports car brand here in India. But the Ferrari brand is so huge that it can easily overshadow Fiat. But Maserati and Alfa Romeo are brand names that are still little known to people.
Fiat which acquired a majority stake in American carmaker Chrysler is also planning to bring in Chrysler's brands such as Jeep to India in the near future. The best known Chrysler brand in India is Jeep, the SUV specialist. Chrysler also has the Dodge brand under its wings but it is yet unclear if it will make a sojourn to India.
Fiat, which has already decided to separate its showrooms from Tata Motors is also planning to build cars outside its joint venture with the Indian carmaker. According to reports, a team from Chrysler has already visited India and is making preliminary plans to launch the Jeep Grand Cherokee, a SUV that will be priced in the range of the Toyota Fortuner.
Fiat is planning to bring the Grand Cherokee in India through the CKD route and assemble it in India. It will be importing the Alfa Romeo and Maserati cars as CBUs. Fiat has a plant that is jointly managed by Tata Motors where it builds its cars and engines near Pune and this plant will be the likely location for the assembly of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
