Pay Just Pre-Budget Prices For Old Stock Cars

This means if you are buying a car that has been at the showroom from before March 16th, you can actually buy the car at pre-budget prices without any price hike. Carmakers such as Mahindra and Hyundai have also confirmed this information.
It is highly unlikely that all cars in a showroom near you will have cars that have been dispatched only after the budget. If you bargain well, you can still get yourself a car at a cheaper price. Be aware of the fact that dealers will try to sell even old stock cars at new prices.
People who have booked their cars before the budget was presented can also buy cars at pre-budget prices provided their vehicle was dispatched before March 16th. Excise duty on cars is imposed when the vehicle leaves the carmaker's plant and not when it is sold at a showroom.
So if you have thought of buying a Hyundai Eon, you might not pay the additional Rs.5,000 that has become effective after the budget was presented. Hyundai has announced a price hike Of Rs.5,000 to the Eon and Rs.85,000 for the Santa SUV.
Mahindra and Mahindra, India's leading SUV manufacturer has also said its buyers could still but its models at pre-budget prices provided dealers have stock. But its chief Dr Pawan Goenka has stated that the carmaker had no say on how dealers price old stock cars.
Car buyers should take advantage of this situation or risk paying a higher price for their cars. Demand for cars is not high, apart from the pre-budget spurt in demand that we saw in February.
