Nissan Found Testing Automatic Sunny In India

Nissan Sunny
Nissan Motors is reportedly testing an automatic version of its best selling car in India, the Sunny. The Sunny has quickly overtaken Nissan's micra in recent months and has become a crowd favourite. Nissan already sells an automatic Sunny in international markets and bringing one to one cannot be ruled out.

The automatic Sunny has been reported in Team BHP and the car was photographed in Bangalore. There is no confirmation if the Sunny's automatic variant was powered by a petrol or diesel engine. The diesel Sunny has been the car that has boosted the Sunny's sales and it would be ideal if Nissan launches the Automatic Sunny in diesel.

But considering the trend of carmakers launching automatic variants of petrol cars only, one cannot be surprised if the automatic Sunny will first be launched in petrol. Ford has launched an Automatic Fiesta in petrol while Honda also has an automatic variant of its City.

Another reason for carmakers not choosing to add an auto box in a diesel is the cost factor. Diesel cars are already more expensive and adding an automatic would make the price gap wider. What carmakers are doing now is to add an auto box to a mid level petrol variant while keeping the price just around the price of the top end variant.

If Nissan does bring in an automatic Sunny, then we shall definitely have an Automatic caaar.
