Carmakers Inviting Apps For Smart Cars
Ford, America's second largest car manufacturer had recently said that cars are computing platforms on wheels before inviting apps from developers for the cars. The company is set to interact with students in Indian Universities and invite them to create applications for their cars in Indian market starting from Figo.
According to a consultant at ABI Research, the number of global users of automotive apps may rise to more than 28 million in 2015, from 1.4 million in 2010, "We are starting to see a change toward more segmentation. You are trying to provide more services that satisfy very well smaller segments of the population," he said.
The recent move in the technology world has come in the wake of the success that Apple and Google tasted in the automotive industry. Softwares that let users to build on applications have helped Apple and Google in a great way in consumer electronics.
