Indian Car Sales See A High Of 13%, Nano Shines

Passenger car sales grew to 211,402 units against 186,890 units in February 2011, reported the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). SIAM) Director General Vishnu Mathur told, "As of February, car sales growth in the domestic market for the fiscal is at 0.31 per cent. It is likely that we may end the year between 0-1 per cent growth.”
Earlier, SIAM had marked concern that car sales may decline for the first time in nine years. April-January sales this year had seen a down fall by 1.19 per cent.
Major carmaker Maruti Suzuki India's car sales increased by 7.13%, Hyundai Motor India's sales surged by 12.78%, while Tata Motors sales increased by 5.46%. Among Tata Motors' cars, the Tata Nano sold well with sales of 9,217 units, an increase from the average sales of 7,500 per month.
