Skoda Laura
Skoda, the Czech subsidiary of Volkswagen is planning to launch a refreshed version of its executive sedan, the Laura by next year. The new Skoda Laura will be based on Volkswagen's global MQB platform and is expected to be longer and more spacious than the existing version.

Reports say the new Skoda Laura will in fact be longer the Audi A3. The additional length will provide more space in the cabin particularly in the rear seat. Powertrain options for this new sedan are not available yet.

Skoda is also planning to launch a shorter Laura after the long wheel base Laura and this car might be placed as the entry level Laura. India is most likely to get the long wheel base version as the Laura enjoys a premium car status here.

The design of the new Skoda Laura will be inspired by the Mission L and Vision D concepts. It is expected to get advanced features such as the automatic park assist and active cruise control. Expect to see the new Laura in one of the major international auto shows by early next year.

The current Laura is Skoda's mid level sedan in India priced between Rs.13.60 lakhs and Rs.18.40 lakhs. Placed above the recently launched Rapid and the Skoda Superb premium sedan, the Laura has been a steady performer in terms of sales. It comes equipped with a 2.0 litre diesel and 1.8 litre petrol engines.
