Ashok Leyland Increases Dost Production At Hosur

Major Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has increased production of its Dost light commercial vehicle at its Hosur plant near Bangalore. The Dost, which was launched in October last year has been getting a high response from the market over its performance.

Hinduja Automotive Ltd Executive Vice-Chairman Dr V Sumantran said: "Since the launch last October, DOST has been receiving very encouraging response from markets for its performance, which is reflected in our healthy order position. Internally, we have been consistently ramping up our production at our brand new lines at Hosur (facility)."

“By increasing our network, we will be better placed to reach and service our customers better,” he added. Sumantran was speaking after the inauguration of an Ashok Leyland showroom at Madhavaram near Bangalore.

The Dost is a light commercial vehicle with a 1.5 litre, 55 hp TDCR engine and an increased payload of 1.25 Tons. The vehicle is priced at Rs 3.89 lakh and is currently being sold in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
