Maruti Suzuki To Offer Customized Vehicles Soon
This is a scenario in most cars. Yes there is an exception in super luxury cars like Rolls-Royce and Bentley where buyers can choose to even have the wood of a tree from their backyard to be used in the interior fittings. But not everyone will buy a Rolls or a Bentley for such levels of customization. Maruti Suzuki, India's leading carmaker will soon offer a wide variety of options to its buyers to customize its models.
The company's plans were revealed by R. Dayal, Executive Director, Production Engineering. In his statement to the media he said: “Maruti Suzuki is planning to offer cars as per buyer's preference. It"s a long-term plan (for us). The thought process is changing. You really have to respond to what the customers need quickly. If somebody wants his or her vehicle to have specific features, then we would have to be in a position to deliver it."
Explaining in detail about how the company would go about offering customized cars, Mr Dayal said Maruti Suzuki will set up five logistic hubs that will be equipped with the required machinery and tools needed to modify cars. The hubs will also have even slow moving spares and this will mean dealers will not be needed to stock them.
Buyers of Maruti Suzuki cars will be able to choose the various features and specifications that they are looking for inn their car and the car of their choice will be custom built for them. This will not only help the customer get what he/she wants but also create a bond between the carmaker and the buyer.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to initiate this customer friendly initiative soon. Mr Dayal said the customization process will require a maximum of 24 hours. Hence customers will have to wait for another day for their car to be delivered from showrooms.
