Ertiga Winning Hearts, Receives 10,000 Bookings
Its seems that the newly launched Ertiga LUV (Life Utility Vehicle), as Maruti Suzuki calls it, is living up to the expectations of the India auto major. The Ertiga MPV has received a record breaking 10,000 bookings in just five days of its launch.
The Ertiga which has been a much talked about car name in the media and automotive circles was launched on 12th this month. Since then, the curiosity to see the MPV has been so high so that families and fleet operators have been crowding at Maruti Suzuki showrooms across the country.
The Ertiga is a 7-seater light MPV based on the Ritz hatchback which comes with a mouth watering price tag. The petrol variant of the Ertiga comes with a starting price of Rs.5.89 lakh while the entry-level diesel comes at Rs.7.30 lakh.
With the Ertiga being Maruti Suzuki's first true MPV, the carmaker has made a real effort to develop a car that will suit a large family. In fact the car has been designed considering the body sizes of Indians.
However, automotive analysts say that the huge response received for Ertiga is like any other Maruti Suzuki cars get at the time of launch. They also say that the MPV will only mange to sell 3500-4000 units per month of which most of the sales will account to diesel variants of the Ertiga. While the petrol variant of the Ertiga has a waiting period of 1-2 months, it will take 3-4 months for the diesel variant to be delivered.
