Maruti Not Worried With Ertiga Price Now

Maruti Suzuki was in a tricky situation last month wen it decided to launch the Ertiga in early March days before the union budget. The decision was made but there was still doubts about the government's policy on the auto industry, particularly on diesel cars. There was also the fear of additional taxes on diesel that would made diesel cars unattractive.

The Ertiga has both petrol and diesel engines and if the government had decided to make diesel cars more expensive, the price gap between the Ertiga's petrol and diesel variants would have been too huge to handle. Then Maruti Suzuki swiftly decided not to launch the Ertiga until there was clarity from the government on diesel car prices.

The carmaker has also escaped from the uncomfortable situation of increasing the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga's price within days of its launch. The prospect of increasing the Ertiga's price would be a bad sign for a market that has quite a few superstitions.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga's price has been a much discussed topic particularly among auto enthusiasts. While the petrol variant is expected to be priced just over Rs.6 lakhs with the diesel variant's top end variant's price under Rs.9 lakhs. This price will clearly keep the Ertiga away from the pricing range of the Innova and the Mahindra Xylo making the Ertiga the preferred choice for cost conscious buyers.
