Jeep To Enter India With Grand Cherokee

One of the biggest names in the SUV world, Jeep is all set to enter the Indian market by launching its popular Grand Cherokee model. SUVs have been always loved in India for their capability and comfort in Indian conditions.

The iconic SUV maker is being brought to India By Italian carmaker Fiat. Jeep, which is a part of American legendary Group Chrysler was bought by Fiat a few years back.

While there is no indication on the price of the SUV in India, it is expected that the Grand Cherokee could be priced below Rs 40 lakh. Jeep President and CEO Michael Manley said: “We recognise that Indian customers appreciate good value and we are keen to provide that with our Grand Cherokee.”

Meanwhile, another model from Jeep that is in the pipeline to enter India is Wrangler. The Grand Cherokee which is based on the Mercedes M-Class platform is in its fourth generation now and has received a lot of updates. The rugged SUV comes with a brilliant design that is mixed with classic looks and modern styling.

However, the fact that the Grand Cherokee will be only available as a five-seater model will be a disadvantage for the model. Jeep's vehicles are generally known to be a little high on running costs, but since the Grand Cherokee will be powered by a Fiat based 3.0-litre common-rail diesel engine, we could expect better figures.
