Toyota Quietly Launches Cheapest Automatic Corolla

Named as the Toyota Corolla Altis G-HV AT, this new variant is powered by Toyota's1.8 litre petrol engine. Toyota has managed to keep its price low by stripping out some of the Corolla's standard features. This is effectively the cheapest automatic D-segment sedan in the Indian market. The only thing disappointing is the the automatic gearbox has been limited to the petrol variant and the diesel variant must make do with a six speed manual gearbox.
Toyota has not made much noise about its new launch. Newspaper advertisements have carried the name of the new variant in the list of the Corolla's available variants. The G-HV AT Corolla is cheaper than the top end VL petrol variant by Rs.1.24 lakhs. You can now actually have an automatic sedan much cheaper than a manual variant.
The Corolla has been impressive with its top notch build quality, reliability and low maintenance costs. Although the latest H-GV Automatic does not have all the Corolla's features, it still retains Bluetooth connectivity and the touchscreen DVD console.
These are some of the changes that you will see in the new Toyota Corolla H-GV Automatic. You will have to make do with regular seats as electric seats have been taken of the list. The seats are finished in fabric instead of leather. The headlamps are also regular ones and not the Xenon headlamps you see in the VL variant. Toyota has also removed the stop/start button and the retractable rear sun shade. Some features have lost some of their sheen as Toyota has retained keyless entry but without smart entry. The steering wheel continues to have leather wrapping but the wood finish is not available.
