Mahindra Bolero First SUV To Cross 1lakh Sales
Mahindra has announced that it sold 1,00,686 Boleros in the financial year 2011-12. The SUV specialist in its press release stated that this is the first time an SUV has crossed one lakh sales in a year in India. Further this is the highest sales Bolero has ever achieved in a year since its launch.
The Bolero has been the highest selling SUV in India and it continues to be so for the 6th consecutive year. Mahindra had sold 83,112 units of the Bolero during 2010-11. This year's sales represents a 21% growth in the Bolero's annual sales from last year.
The month of March also a created a record in terms of monthly sales. Mahindra sold 10,026 units of its entry level SUV, which is the highest ever monthly sales, in the history of the brand. The Bolero has now become India's seventh highest selling car in 2011-12 moving up from 9th in FY2010 – 11. What is significant is that the Bolero is the only SUV to feature among the top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India.
Speaking on this achievement, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra said: “The fact that Bolero has sold more than 1 lac units in FY 2011-12 signifies the confidence consumers have on the brand. Over the years, Bolero has evolved with the changing lifestyle aspirations of customers resulting in an exceptional CAGR of 26%. I am sure that the Bolero will continue to be as popular on Indian roads in years to come”.
The Mahindra Bolero was launched in 2000 and has seen many significant changes in its design, features and technical specifications. Mahindra launched a fully updated Bolero late last year. The Bolero has been Mahindra's best selling model thanks to its robust build quality, ability to traverse across rough terrain and its reliability. Being available in different body styles to suite the requirements of the customers has also helped the Bolero become a favourite among commercial vehicle buyers.
