Ford EcoSport – Compact, Stylish and Affordable

The Ford EcoSport Compact SUV was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo. This is the second product from Ford that has been built on Ford's global car platform. Designed at emerging markets such as India and Brazil, the EcoSport will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV.

The Ford EcoSport is built on the same platform as the Fiesta sedan. Yet the two cars will be different in terms of look, positioning, performance and personality. The EcoSport will be launched only with a diesel engine that has advance technology found only in premium cars.

In Ford's own words, the ecoBoost engine used in the EcoSport is - “The new, award-winning EcoBoost engines take the turbocharge and direct injection technologies found in advanced diesel engines and pushes them even further. The result is a more compact petrol engine that delivers power to rival a traditional 1.6L petrol engine, but uses up to 20% less fuel. And that"s good for you and the environment."

The EcoSport is expected to be priced just over the Fiesta sedan which will keep it just over Rs.10 lakhs. The EcoSport is shorter than four meters in length bringing it under the compact car segment. This will help keep the price down.
