Renault DeZir Offers Style, Power- Literally

Renault India which currently has only three cars in its Indian line-up surprised visitors of its stall at the 12th Delhi Auto Expo by displaying the DeZir electric car. This concept vehicle was truly the central attraction at Renault's stall. It was appreciated well not ony for its gorgeous looks but also its performance figures.

The Renault DeZir concept is powered by vertically mounted lithium rechargeable ion batteries. These batteries send power to 110kW electric motors that deliver an impressive 148bhp. The most impressive figure is the torque which is a whopping 1830 pounds. The Renault DeZir can accelerate to 100kmpl from rest in just five seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 180kmpl.

The Renault DeZir was first unveiled as a concept during last year's Paris Auto show. It marked the future direction of Renault's design philosophy. You can expect to see some of the DeZir's design features in upcoming variants such as the next generation Laguna.

Carmakers tend to make their concept cars more special by adding unique features. When it comes to Renault, it has loaded the DeZir with features such as scissor doors, cameras that replace the rear window, and white leather interiors that contrasts with the car's red exterior.

Such beautiful and powerful electric cars will definitely help popularize electric cars. Although electric cars are not yet popular in India they are gaining popularity especially in Europe. This is the reason why many European carmakers are developing cars such as the DeZir. Further tough regulations on emissions passed by the European governments can also be credited with this development.

Renault India currently sells the Fluence sedan, Pulse hatchback and the Koleos SUV in India. It will soon launch the low cost Duster SUV.
