Mercedes To Launch A & B-Class In India
German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to launch its A&B– Class entry-level models in India. While the B-Class sports tourer is expected to arrive before October this year, it is not clear when the A-Class will be launched. The B-Class premium hatchback is expected to be priced around 20 lakhs in India.
This is the first time the premium carmaker is selling a compact car in India where the C-Class saloon is the lowest car with a starting price of Rs 25 lakhs. The B-Class will fill the gap in Mercedes Benz's product range which was not having an entry-level car to fight the BMW X1 and the upcoming Audi Q3.

Mercedes Benz India Managing Director and CEO Peter Honegg said the B-class, the company's first compact car in India, will be first launched in Europe and later in India. He was speaking after inaugurating the carmaker's second showroom in Bangalore.
Mercedes had largely lost ground to German luxury carmakers BMW and Audi in the recent times with Audi overtaking it to grab the second spot. Mercedes is in the third spot after BMW and Audi in terms of sales and the carmaker expect to regain the lost market share by launching the new models. The B-Class will come with both petrol and diesel options.
