Ertiga To Be Followed By A-Star Sedan, New Ritz

After the much hyped launch of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV, the Indian auto major is now reportedly planning to launch a new sedan based on the A-Star hatchback. Earlier, there were reports that the carmaker could build a new sedan that will be be placed between the entry-level Swift Dzire and the SX4 mid-level sedan.

The new sedan which is expected to be rolled out by 2013 beginning will be a bigger car than the Dzire with more luggage space and priced under the SX4 mid-level sedan. The A Star sedan will look for a straight fight with Czech manufacturer Skoda's made for India car Rapid.

Apart from the new A-Star sedan, Maruti will also launch a facelifted Ritz hatchback soon. The Ritz has been a highly selling car for the carmaker due to its affordable price and fuel efficient diesel engine.

The new Ritz is expected to be priced Rs 10,000 more than the current model which sells at a starting price of Rs 4.71 lakh. The new car has got a heightened style treatment to the front and the rear.
