Mahindra Reva NXR Set For Diwali Launch

The Mahindra Reva NXR was one of the most watched cars at Mahindra's display area at the recently concluded Delhi Auto Expo. While many people were curious to know about its features, price and specifications, Dr Pawan Goenha, President – Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra said the Reva NXR will be launched around Diwali and further details about the car will be made public then.

The new electric car from Mahindra Reva has a stylish design, more space and range than the current Reva. Mahindra is keen to push the Reva brand up the ladder and the NXR will be its launch pad to make electric cars more visible on Indian roads.

Electric cars have been limited by their low range and space issues but Mahindra appears to have solved these issues in the Reva NXR. It appears spacious, roomy and well made to be an ideal city car for the family.

Speaking about Mahindra's vision on electric cars, Mr Anand Mahindra, who unveiled the Reva NXR, said: “ We want to change the way people commute. And we want to do it in a way that is responsible, that is clean, that does not tax the planet and that makes the experience of commuting guilt-free and a very joyous one."

Electric cars will continue to need government subsidies to be sustainable for manufacturers according to Mr Goenka. These subsidies will not be required only when volumes increase to a sustainable numbers. Reva has sold 4,500 vehicles across the globe in over four years. Mahindra is aiming to mre than double this number once it launched the Reva NXR in Diwali.
