Mini Gets 100 Bookings Within 6 Days Of Launch

Mini has said the 100 bookings clearly show the kind of image it enjoys in India. Mini has launched three models in India, the Mini Cooper, Convertible and the Countryman. BMW India which is handling the Mini brand in India has said deliveries of Mini will begin from April.
BMW has ensured the price of Mini cars in India is affordable with the entry level cooper costing under Rs.25 lakhs. However the Countryman SUV is priced at Rs.32 lakhs and the on road price will be more than RS.37 lakhs.
Yet the Mini Countryman SUV appears to be the car which is getting the maximum bookings. This indicates the preference of large cars among Indians. A BMW India official while speaking about Mini's bookings said : “We can sell around 200 units in the first year, as these models are all imported and orders have to be placed many months in advance. The highest demand is for the Countryman SUV and convertible variants."
The Mini's sales performance is incredible compared to similarly priced small cars such as the Volkswagen Beetle and the Fiat 500. The Beetle has managed to get about 59 sales in the last nine months of 2011 and Fiat had managed to sell just one 500 small car.
BMW India chief Dr Andreas Schaaf had expressed confidence in the Mini Line up and had said he was expecting sales to be very positive. The news on Mini's bookings clearly indicates Dr Schaaf was right.
