Mercedes Launches Luxury City Bus At Rs.90L
Mercedes-Benz launched its new bus at its plant in Chakan, near Pune. The C125RLE is a low floor model ideal for city transport. This new Mercedes-Benz bus is evidently aimed at state transport corporations. The company has said it would also like to add private operators to its customer base.
The new bus will be built at Chakan along with Mercedes-Benz's two inter city bus models. The C125RLE has some modifications to facilitate its use as a city bus. The driver will be able to lower the height of the floor by a few inches so that specially abled people can enter and get out of the bus more easily. Other notable features of the new bus are air conditioning and heater.
Powered by a 7.2litre 6 cylinder turbo diesel engine,the C125RLE has access to 252bhp and 900Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz has concentrating on the bus delivering high fuel economy too. The Daimler owned company has claimed the C125RLE is Euro 5 ready as it comes with Bluetech technology which reduces the amount of nitrous oxides emitted by the engine. The same technology is available in several Mercedes-Benz cars too.
It is now evident that the city road scape will have a different look with the arrival of the Mercedes-Benz C125RLE. The name that will hit us the moment we think of a luxury city bus is Volvo and that can change soon. Many had thought Mercedes-Benz buses were very expensive compared to Volvo. But with a price tag under a crore, the German company will definitely pose a Challenge to Volvo.
