Goa Police To Try Tata Nano As a Patrol Vehicle

We had earlier reported about the Tata Nano being considered as a patrol car by the Mumbai police. The Nano is an ideal patrol vehicle as it can travell easily through narrow lanes and can also offer all weather protection to policemen who work 24/7. The Mumbai police have tested the car and the results are not yet out.

But the concept of a Tata Nano as a police car has caught up in the neighboring state of Goa. The Goan police have received a fleet of Nanos that will be used by them as patrol vehicles. The Tata Nano police car has been painted in Goan police colours and it will be equipped with special equipment such as radio walkie talkies and sirens. It is yet unclear if the Nano has got any modifications to suit the requirements of the Goan Police.

The Nano is highly suitable for the Goan police as much of the interior roads in Goa are narrow lanes with little scope for big vehicles. It is also a nippy vehicle and can help police chase down criminals in such areas. However the Nano can be a disappointment in a high speed chase on the highway.

The Mahindra Commander, Bolero, the Toyota Qualis, the Tata Sumo are some of the most familiar cop cars in the country. It is indeed a special honour for the countries cheapest car to be in the same list as the above mentioned cars.
