Nissan Datsun Will Challenge Low Cost Nano

The only car (if we can say so) to come close the Nano is the Bajaj RE 60. But before anybody could make any announcements about its viability to compete with the Nano, Bajaj has said it is not a car but only a four wheeler to replace the auto rickshaw..
So is the Tata Nano truly the undisputed cheap car of the world? Some say no. Rumours from the Geneva Motor show indicate that Nissan the Japanese carmaker is planning to revive its low cost car brand Datsun soon. Datsun is expected to be based in India and it will build low cast cars aimed at developing markets.
Nissan is expected to make use of its experience of building cars in India to develop this Datsun small car. Datsun’s small car project has been under wraps and there has been no official confirmation from Nissan. But according to reports coming in from Geneva, Nissan wants to enter the low cost car segment but without compromising on its brand image. So it has decided to revive the Datsun brand. This is not the first time Nissan’s name has been associated with a low cost car. In fact it is one of the signatories of the deal signed between Bajaj Auto, Renault and Nissan to market Bajaj’s low cost car.
