Will Hyundai Debut Kia With the Picanto In India?

Kia Picanto
It is well known to everyone that Hyundai has a subsidiary brand called Kia. Both brands have been working together in several international markets but for India. The two brands have now emerged as one of the top seven carmakers in the US and have shown much promise in Europe too.

However, Hyundai has not been too keen to launch the Kia brand in India despite enjoying the number two position in the Indian market. Will this situation change soon? Rumours say yes. The Kia Picanto, the i10's clone and the smallest car from Kia is being tested extensively in India. The Korean carmaker had in previous occasions brought in some of its other international models to India as part of climate testing.

According to reports, the test schedule of the Picanto has been much longer than previous tests. To add to this, people who have seen the Picanto in the metal are very much impressed by its stylish looks. Although the Picanto and the Hyundai i10 are built on similar platforms, the Kia offers a more stylish and edgier look.

Considering the decreasing salesof some of Hyundai's cars, it might not be a bad idea for the Korean carmaker to introduce its Kia range of car. It does not need to make any huge investments to start with. Further, its long experience in India will also help it modify Kia cars as per the taste of Indian car buyers more easily than other international brands who are making their entry in to India.

We can only wait to see if the Kia Picanto will truly be a car that will mark the debut of Kia in India.
