Mahindra XUV Bookings Cross 25,000 In 10 Days!
The XUV 500 had seen phenomenal bookings even when it was launched last year. Mahindra which was planning tom make the SUV an international model by exporting it to some right hand drive countries is now in a delicate situation as it is no position to even satiate some domesticate demand.
The second phase of bookings of the XUV 500 has closed and Mahindra will soon begin shortlisting the people who will be buying the car through a computer generated selection process. The company had charged Rs.80,000 to control the number of people booking the vehicle. The price of the XUV 500 was also increased in January. The booking process was restricted to the W6 and W8 variants of the XUV 500 and did not offer the four wheel drive version of the W8.
Desppite this the bookings have been well above expectations. The lucky few whose names will be selected can get their hands on a brand new XUV 500 within the next three months. But the remaining people who have been unlucky will have to wait much longer and might have to re-enter a booking process. The whole process of online booking was made to ensure the XUV 500's waiting period does not exceed four months. But with so many people not having a chance to book the SUV, the waiting period will definitely be high.
The XUV 500 has successfully created a niche position for itself among SUVs in the Rs.10lakh to Rs.20 lakh price range. It offers the luxury and comfort of a premium SUV but is priced at almost half the price. Its design and powerful stance has made it a darling among car lovers.
