Japanese auto giant Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd will launch its facelifted Camry flagship model in India in August. Earlier, the carmaker had displayed the mid-class luxury sedan at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo in January.

The new 2012 prestigious Camry comes with a slight facelift and a luxurious interior. However, the Camry will be available only in a petrol version in India where diesel cars are very high on demand. The 2012 Camry is expected to be priced around 26 lakhs in India.

The carmaker will invest Rs 1,400 crore on its Camry assembling facility in Bangalore. Toyota India deputy managing director (marketing) Sandeep Singh said that the Camry which was imported so far “is set to be assembled at its Bangalore facility from July. We are on schedule.”

He added, “Our focus in India will be semi-urban and rural markets, to support our growth.” The carmaker further said the number of dealers would be increased from 173 to 225 by the end of 2012.
