Next Generation Mahindra Scorpio In 2014
The company which is planning to roll out the new Scorpio by 2014 has named the ambitious project as W105. The project is underway at Mahindra's research facility in Chennai called the Mahindra Research Valley.
The 2014 Scorpio will be light with a weight loss of about 260 kilograms. The new car could be seen using a plenty of fibre parts resulting in weight loss thereby increasing the performance and fuel economy of the SUV. However, there has been no information from the carmaker if there would be any major changes in the design of the 2014 Scorpio.
Mahindra is also working on a new platform with longer wheel base that would provide better leg space and handling traits. The new Scorpio is also expected to get a few changes in its technical department; Mahindra could fit the SUV with the 140 Bhp-330 Nm 2.2 Liter turbo diesel engine that is currently being used inn the XUV500.
Mahindra had earlier announced that it has started working on a hybrid car that will be launched by 2015. The carmaker had also displayed a hybrid prototype of its Scorpio SUV at the 2008 Auto Expo.
