Ford India Sales Propped Up By Buoyant Exports

The carmaker has managed to see this increase in sales only after its exports increased. Ford's domestic sales in March actually fell by 13.92% to 9,026 units from the 10,485 cars sold in March 2011. Exports have increased by a whopping 97,85% to 3,122 units.
Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham in his statement to the media said: “Despite challenging market conditions, we have reported steady monthly growth in vehicle sales and exports since the beginning of 2012. March is our best-selling month to date.”
Ford India sells the new Fiesta sedan, Fiesta classic, Figo hatchback and the Endeavour SUV. The carmaker is planning to launch the EcoSport compact SUV in the country in the coming months. The new car is expected to provide Ford with a much needed sales boost. Ford has not been able to sell as many Fiesta sedans as it intended to as the car is priced on a higher scale when compared to its competitors.
