Skoda Octavia Set For 2013 Relaunch

The Skoda Octavia is the car that established the Czech car brand in India. It was the company's best selling model until it was phased out due to BS IV norms. Although the Rapid has arrived as the Octavia's replacement in the mid level sedan segment, Skoda fans continue to miss the Octavia which is considered as the ideal city sedan that can be even taken for a rally.

The Skoda city racer is set for a re-entry in India according to reports. Skoda which sells its European Octavia as the Laura has indicated that the next generation Laura will be renamed as the Octavia. The Laura name is used only in India. The new generation Octavia is being sold as the Laura here.

The Laura is set for a refresher next year and you can as well see the new Skoda sedan with the Octavia name plate. The new Octavia is being developed under the product name A7 and will be first seen at next year's Geneva motor show. The concept A7 will be followed by a production ready model by late 2013.

The new Skoda Octavia is being developed on Volkswagen's MQB platform which will mean it will be much larger than the out going Laura. Will this mean the Octavia will get a more powerful engine too? This question will be answered only during next year's Geneva motor show.
