Nissan Sales Performance Boosted Again By Sunny

Nissan's sales in January stood at 5168 units from last January's 1857 sales. This is the first time Nissan has managed to sell more than 5,000 cars in India. In fact its previous sales record was just over 3,000 units in November.
Nissan in its statement has given credit to its two locally built models Micra and Sunny for its tremendous growth. The Sunny has overtaken the Micra in terms of unit sales after recording 3218 sales. The introduction of the diesel variant of the Sunny has provided a huge boost to the sedan's sales.
The Micra hatchback has recorded 1855 sales. The remaining 95 sales were contributed by the Teanna, X-Trail and the 370Z sports car that are imported from Japan.
Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said: “Our sales performance in January shows that Nissan is a brand on the move in India. Breaking the 5,000 sales mark, after only 20 months of operation, is a milestone in our continuing development in what is one of Nissan"s most strategically important markets.
“I am especially pleased that the models driving this growth are those developed with our Indian customers in mind, and produced here in Chennai. The innovative Evalia urban-class vehicle, unveiled at the recent Delhi Auto Expo, will become the third model to be produced in Oragadam from autumn this year and will bring even more choice to our customers."
